The latest Bernie Gunther book The Other Side Of Silence came this year. I think it's the only book published in 2016 I've read, so that would make it best as far as I'm concerned.

The next one, Prussian Blue, is out in April.

@izzythepush,
My best History was The Framers Coup a really well written account of the creation of the US Constitution. Its so not loaded with boring academic twaddle and its also not showing the usual authors reverence for some favorites of history. As far as Karman (the author) was concerned, the US Constitution got some things right but a lot more, they got wrong.

I think "originalists" will find lots to disagree with

@farmerman,
Considering how some on A2K describe democracy as mob rule I think you might have a point.

@izzythepush,
it occurs every bunch of years (or whenever a GOP candidate "wins" the prpesidency via the electoral college vote and not the popular vote).
The Constitution, although it finally gave the Nation taxing and programmatic powers, actually shows how little the framers actually MISTRUSTED the citizenry.

@ossobucotemp,
its really why the electoral college was thunk up.
Accoring to the author who is a well respected historian specializing in the early evolution of our govt.

@farmerman,
You said actually shows how little the framers actually MISTRUSTED the citizenry.

What are the best music albums?
Only bought a handful of albums from 2016.

In no particular order of preference:
The La La Land soundtrack;
The Bright Star musical original cast recording;
Leonard Cohen's You Want It Darker;
She & Him's Christmas Party (the only CD of the lot).

That may be it.

@tsarstepan,
That Captain America: Civil War and Rogue One are not in your top 10 list, much less 1 and 2 pretty much voids your list. >.<

@McGentrix,
Rated Rogue On at 8/10 and Captain America: Civil War as 9/10.

I just seen so many movies this year and they didn't make the cut. I've seen 56 movies at the theater this year. I'm too lazy to count how many 2016 eligible movies (above and beyond that).... Razz
