Neither the man nor the pilots gave their account/accounts of the crash.

Can either word be used? I was thinking of the pilots giving their accounts. I also wonder if the pilots could give one account.

Thanks.

If the man was expected to give one account, and the pilots were expected to jointly give one account, then you could write

Neither the man nor the pilots gave their account of the crash.

If the man was expected to give one account, and each of the pilots was expected to give an account, then you could write

Neither the man nor any of the pilots gave their account of the crash.

What is Holy cow? I don't like shorthand. It's good for texting only.
