I withdraw a minimum of $24,000 ($2k/mo) every year, and my balance remains the same. In addition to my social security, I live a very comfortable life. No mortgage and no car payments. My car, a 2006 Acura, has only about 50,000 miles on it. I now drive less than 3k miles/year. My wife adds more mileage every year, because she drives almost every day.

That's not even the half of it. We bought our home in Sunnyvale for $52k; it's now worth about $1.8 mil. It used to be cherry orchards around here; now it's the heart of hi tech country. Just lucky.
