now i'm wishing we'd all written the same phrase - so we could kinda line 'em up and really see the differences, similarities
Thanks for posting it, ehBeth! For some reason, when I get to Properties and highlight the URL, I cannot copy it. <sigh>
My take on the different samples:
colorbook - more sensible than she lets on!
Walter - very European, a bit disjointed but not overly so
boomerang - vertical strokes, good sense of humor
ehBeth - feminine, a bit flowery, but precise
dagmaraka - practical but stylish
George - my favorite! A bit flamboyant, great sense of humor
I don't have a scanner at work - but I will post it during the weekend .....
I love Eva's writing
here's my scrawl - the more I have to write the more illegible it gets! but i write fast
..... scared now of what character will be read inot it!
here it is in all it's glory
Vivien and djjd - I like the very strong sense of personality that comes through in your scripts - not too tied to what they tried to teach us in school. Individualism is shining through with you two.
John-Bush - you'll have to share now!
I missed this thread until now! What fun. I wish I could figure out a way to get my handwriting on screen....
Get out yer camera, msK! I think that's how boomer did it.
nice - yes i used a camera too. I learnt 3 styles of writing at various schools and sort of evolved a fast way of writing that suited me eventually, First I learnt roundhand, then cursive (when we first did joined-up writing) and then at grammar school we had to learn italic handwriting, complete with Osmiroid pen.
Different nations do tend to be taught different styles which really shows up - French writing is quite different from English (though like Walter I do continental 7's, with a stroke across, but not a continental 1 - no upstroke at the beginning)
Vivien wrote:... but not a continental 1 - no upstroke at the beginning)
Caught! (At least, you type the upstroke)
Hey there, unadorned writer K!
I'm a continental number person - think I 'caught' it from my parents.
To give you all a laugh, I've got a sample of hand-writing awaiting approval for the Gallery.
OK, I posted it on the Raven's Realm -- can anyone grab it for me?
(Still can't figure out how to reliably get urls with my mac...)

Here's soz penmanship
That's great sozobe! You finally found a way to post it
...nice
handwriting.
What a fascinating thread! I'd love to show you my contribution but I really don't have the equipment or the knowledge to do it.
I was one of the last left-handed (and back-handed lefty) students who was told by the nuns to tie my left-hand behind my back and become a righty. My cursive writing was atrocious, and probably still would be except I haven't used cursive is almost 50 years.
I'm wondering (and hoping) that one of yall could provide me a fax number where I could send a sample that could then be added to the collection. I'd be happy to post my office fax number here to some willing participant if you don't want your fax number made public.
Thank you for your patience with me. -realjohnboy-
