Man complimented my shirt and I didn't realize it was see though, I am confused?

I like a guy who I see now and then at the convenience store near me. I didn't like him at first, but we started chatted and exchanged some humor. Well I went in the other night and he started off the conversation while ringing me up at the register if I am making a cake and I said no. Then he said what are you up for tonight and I knew he got out at 2am so he wasn't trying to ask me out. After that he said that's my favorite shirt, I like the way it looks on you and is a little see through. I thought the compliment was nice at first and said thank you, but when he ended it with the see through part it was a little bit of a turn off. I didn't know my shirt was see through and was embarrassed and haven't been back since. I did tell him I was a little embarrassed and he told me I shouldn't be because no one else is in the store. Strange response, but can a man on this forum please let me know if this guy was just trying to flirt and maybe screwed up or is he a pervert?

We are both in our 40s. I never had anyone compliment me this way probably because I don't wear revealing clothes when I am out and about. I just bought the shirt and I wasn't dressed up at all.

At 40, he should have known that comment was inappropriate.

You can give him the benefit of the doubt that it was an impulsive, immature remark, or cut off anything more right now because you think he's creepy.

Time and further interaction will tell.

He may have just been offering you a compliment or possibly working towards eventually asking you out for movie, dinner, dancing. The comment about the blouse being a "little" see through and then telling you not to be embarrassed since the store was empty, might have been his letting you know that people can see through it and he was looking to protect your decency from prying eyes and unwanted whistles and advances.

If you return to the store, try to have a friend just outside who can come in and get you if you're in there too long.

Thanks, he had said I like that it is a little see through. I appreciate your opinion. I feel a little upset because I did start liking him for him, not just his looks so this is confusing for me. It was a little bit of a let down.

He sounds creepy. He was staring at your boobs through your shirt, then he actually spoke about it. You can get 'no-peep' blouses.

He was flirting with you. And what he said was pretty harmless. This is the 21st century. People in their 40's, both men and women, like to have sex with each other... and flirting is what grown ups do.

If you aren't interested in having sex with him, or in just playing with him in a flirty way, then just make it clear you aren't interested.

There is no reason to call him names. There is nothing wrong with him flirting with you.

I certainly would not call him a bad name. I just wanted someones opinion and thanks for yours. I know people have sex, but I just think since he barely knows me it was a bit bold to flirt in that way. I know we all have things on our mind, but it can also be a turn off for a women if you come on strong in a sexual way unless of course you know them better.
