I saw a stray dog run/running across the road and being run over by a car.

Is the sentence correct and which verb should I use?

Thanks.

I saw a stray dog run/running across the road and being run over by a car.

If you're going to use the present participle, "being," then for the sake of consistency use "running."

Thanks, InfraBlue.

Would it be correct to say "I saw a stray dog run across the road and run over by a car"? Thanks.

In that case, I'd have said "get run over"

Thank you.

Would "I saw a stray dog run across the road..." imply that the dog had safely reached the opposite side of the road and hence no car could have knocked it down.

@tanguatlay,
That would be my assumption, if I heard "I saw a stray dog run across the road..."

Would this sentence be better?

I saw a stray dog running across the road and a car running over it.

The dog attempted to run across the road. It did not succeed because it was hit by a car before it got to the other side.
