I've got 3 or 4 spyware removal programs running and I still can't KILL it!!! Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

. Next reboot to safe mode ( By tapping the F8 key on start up) Make sure you can view all Hidden Files/Folders search for and delete the following in BOLD

PowerReg Scheduler.exe

Next
Restart your computer,
Dowload the following program

CWShredder
It should be the current version, but check for updates

Run Program cwshredder and have it fix anything it finds.

Make sure you click the "Fix" button

Next:
Download Ad-aware CHECK FOR UPDATES.
Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:

check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."
- Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:

Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."
Press "Scan Now"
- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:
Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives...
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys.
Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

Now press "Next" again.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK."

Next
Dowload the latest version of Spybot 1.3. Please check it for updates, Run the program and have it fix anything it finds in Red.

Restart your computer,

Restart HJT and post back a fresh log please

checked, deleted, ran, updated,fixed all. seems to have helped so far but there were two files associated w/ powerreg that weren't .exe files. Should I have deleted them?? They are powerreg scheduler.exe-2c717a35 a "PF" file and Powerreg.dat file.

Please go Here and unzip the newest version of HJT into a new dedicated folder,
Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it hjt.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder. ( Remove the older version of HJT please)

Next

Please restart HJT put a check next to the following, close all open windows and click "Fix Checked"

Run a scan with BitDefender as well, Be sure and Check Auto Clean.

Next:
Go here Trend Micro - Free online virus Scan
Be sure and check Auto Clean before you do the scan. If it finds anything that it cannot clean have it delete it or make a note of the file location so you can delete it yourself.

Check both Ad-aware and spybot for updates,
Reboot to safe mode and run a scan with both of them,

Next
While still in safe mode,Open HJT again and same way as above have it fix the following

This is really getting annoying now...
OK. Ran Bit Defender and Trend Micro. Updated & ran Adaware & Spybot. Could not find:

I do appreciate the help. You would think that with all the programs I've got running I wouldn't have gotten infected in the first place. Is there any one program that'll protect the system?? Is it more counter-productive having all those programs running??

Can never be to safe Warren,,
A couple things you can do,

Download the following programs, For keeping crap off your system to begin with
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.

Download Spyware Blaster and SpywareGaurd

Check for updates after you install them, And check weekly as well

Keep Ad-aware and Spybot handy, run them once a week, Be sure and always check them for updates prior to running,

Make sure your Anti Virus is updated and run a full system scan atleast once a week,
Be sure you have a fire wall, XP has a built in one should you choose to use it,

Also run either of the 2 Free online Virus scans I had you run earlier, just to keep a double check on things,

Also if you haven't already enable system restore,

Post back if you have any further problems
