It's cheaper and safer to buy a ready-made aquarium stand. Metal is stronger and most commonly used. Be aware that a 20 gallon tank with sand, water plus pump and accessories may weigh 200 lbs

Indeed. I've discovered that for most of us, ready made devices not only work better and for less total cost, they also look much better.

WRONG! 1g = one goldfish in length. Similar to getting the height of horses using tiny minuscule Trump hands as measuring unit.

OK, so a 20g tank would be about ... 40 inches? Thank you, I was not aware of this unit of measure!

Maybe someday in the far future they'll finally standardize the g. for now we just have to wing it. (fin it?)
