The National Military Home in Dayton was founded in 1867. The link i have provided was the only thing i have yet found on the history of the institution, and as i am at work, i likely won't have much time to devote to it. I would suggest googling "J. P. Sousa+Marine Band+tours" to see what you come up with.

The following comes from a history page for the United States Marine Corps Band:

The first concert tour in 1891 took "The President's Own" to 32 cities and towns in New England and the Midwest. Conducted by Sousa, the band performed two different programs: one for matinees, and another for evening concerts. Both included Sousa's unique blend of popular music and orchestral transcriptions, as well as his own compositions. Although the audiences clamored for Sousa's marches, he included them only as encores, offering his audiences what he called the "solid fare" of Wagner, Bizet, Verdi, Schubert, Berlioz, and others.

I would suggest 1891 or 1892, if this was a tour of the Marine Band under the baton of Sousa. Keep in mind, though, that after 1892, Sousa organized his own band, with which he toured the United States, and made tours of Europe and other nations in the world.

Good luck.
