Professor Lim, who was the former head of Singapore General Hospital,
visited Mr Lim regularly for the ten months he was hospitalised.

Should it be "is" instead of "was" instead? Thanks.

@timur,
Tim if you mean me, then it's because I'm 85 and Alz's setting in
If you mean Tang then no, I think it's a good q for the esl

Dale, it's my opinion that you need to rest and let people whose capabilities are in better shape answer this kind of question.

Someone who has been a journalist should be able to answer easily if he wasn't losing his reading skills.

@tanguatlay,
Lingering doubt, "is" obviously means he's alive but I still maintain that "was" implies his death

@dalehileman,
See, Dave, you can't even distinguish between who Tanguatlay is asking about.

If professor Lim was the former head of Singapore hospital, it doesn't matter if he is alive or not.

Is he still the head of the hospital? would be the appropriate question to ask.

But I don't think it is the question intended by Tanguatlay.

It's rather the second sentence.

This sentence clearly states that Mr. Lim was hospitalized for ten months, it doesn't imply that he is still hospitalized.
