I am using the BVM Jets EVF (Electric VioFan) and it says on the manual that it can give a maximum thrust of 16 lbs. from 4070 Watts. However, its battery is a 10 cell LiPo. How can we get so much power from a 10 cell battery and that too why so much for a smaller motor like this? Does this wattage mean something else?

@JdSanketi,
4070 Watts comes to about 5.5 horsepower. If their specs are accurate, 16 pounds thrust sounds kind of puny.

As to how, doesn't it depend on the continuous discharge rating of the battery?

The power delivered by a Li-Po cell depends on it's Ahr rating and peak current delivery.

The power of a 16 Lb. thrust engine depends on the speed at which it can deliver that thrust. Simplified formula: HP = force x distance.
