I would like to propose our first informal, open meeting
of Alcoholics Anonymous, here in the Able 2Know chatroom.
Our meeting is open to all friends & the family members
of an alcoholic, for these persons suffer from the disease
of alcoholism also. Alcoholism is a FAMILY disease. No
one in the family is left unscathed, or able to maintain
mental stability or normalcy of any kind, during the merry
go round called denial that is a great part of the disease
of alcoholism.
**Since I would like to give as much advance notice as
possible so all our members who want to attend CAN -
I will tentativelly set the time for our 1st chat/meeting
to be held on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST at 5 PM EST.
**Please send me a message if this is a bad time for you
everyone, anyone**
**This is an OPEN MEETING however - persons who do
not have the disease of alcoholism are welcome to attend,
but are expected to remain in the background & to listen
rather than to speak.
**There ARE specific meetings JUST FOR YOU, for the
friends and family members to attend on their own.
AlAnon Groups hold meetings in almost every town across
our country and those of many other countries also. The
AlAnon Family Groups offer the great gift of help,
understanding and an overall education about the
disease of alcoholism; not ONLY how it damages the
alcoholic, but also how this disease severely damages
every OTHER member of every family also.
**I also urge ALL those who plan to attend to remember
that this is an anonymous fellowship and that none of us
EVER discusses who was here, or what was said here,
outside of these meetings. Without that assurance from
EVERY attendee - we wouldn't be able to have an open
meeting of AA at all.
The only requirement for AA membership is the desire to stop drinking.
