I'm looking for amazing lyricists who can't write melodies, composers who can't write lyrics, guitarists who can't sing, singers who can't play their instrument, composers who can't improvise, improvisers who can't write decent music, and so on, and yet they try to anyway and might even believe they're good at it.

I presume you've checked with William Hung's agent?
What was he good at? Now I want to know. Was it his presence? Was it his personality? Was it his lack of talent in all of the above?
I'm really looking for people who have amazing talent in one musical area but have no skill at all in another area they choose to pursue.
Les Claypool could be an example. He's an amazing bassist but he chooses to sing as well.
By the way, welcome to the boards.

Thanks for the welcome dauer. I guess you're right about William; he ain't good for nothin'.
Edie Brickell might fit the bill. I loved her singing, but then they stuck a guitar in her hand. Mind you, she wasn't terrible, but I think she should have concentrated on the singing.
Elto0n John & Bernie Taupin--IIRC, Elton writes melodies while Taupin writes the lyrics.
