@oristarA,

no, it's a typo of a NSFW word.

it might be mispelled intentionally, possibly to get around a profanity filter.

it's supposed to be "for ****'s sake!"

@Region Philbis,
So, it reveals the fact that the online newspaper The Register is not a serious medium?

@oristarA,
The Register is an technology news and opinion website - why do you mean that it "is not a serious medium"?

@oristarA,
Yes, "fsck" does stand for file system consistency check. It is a inside joke for software engineers.

Fsck is a common tool for checking a disk drive for errors. Mickey-Sakke is a method to maintain encryption keys.

The phrase "for fsck's sakke" is a play on words since it is similar to "for ****'s sake" (a common vulgar phrase to express disdain).

Here is another grammatical question unrelated to the OP:

Quote:
Spare a reserved cloud instance, gov? Microsoft's $1bn, 70k charity sales pitch
Tech philanthropy's problem with giving

Microsoft is donating $1bn worth of its cloud services over three years to charities and non profits.

The software giant used the annual Davos World Economic Forum media ego fest to unveil plans to recruit 70,000 to Microsoft cloud services in the next three years. Others promoted themselves at Davos in different ways.

Does "Spare a reserved cloud instance, gov" mean "Government, please lenient to an example of cloud services that is reserved"?
