I am now well into my second week of doing nothing but trying to remove this stuff. A bit like the rabbit, the more I punch, the more I get stuck.
Can anyone please help this frustrated person with a twelve year old son who loves to download music and games?

After running the usual applications including spybot, adaware and spywareblaster I could not get rid of the websearch2 , search bar and the annoying blue search window , which attached itself to the bottom of internet explorer.

Whether we have the same problem , I'm not sure, but quite possibly. I discovered a STARTUP program , via MSCONFIG, with the following name

BIN WINDOW FIVE, I did not recognise this, and suspected it to be the culprit.

The program resided here, at

c:\PROGRAM FILES\PROGRAM MEAL COOL\bin window five.exe

Any attempt to delete the file through windows could not be done. I merely suspected this to be the problem. So I next rebooted in safe mode by pressing the F8 key on boot-up and selected the COMMAND PROMPT option. Fortunately I am familiar with MS-DOS and was therefore anle to navigate to the folder PROGRAM MEAL COOL, where I was able to delete the BIN WINDOW FIVE.EXE program using the del *.* command, from within the folder.

I rebooted my PC and HEY PRESTO, the problem has gone, hopefully permanently. Hope this helps, and I hope my problem has gone for good. Its taken me several hours to find this solution. Good luck.

If I could get my hands on those *******s, I'd .....cut ....there..........alls off.

Hi wjb

You got infected by installing Messenger Plus! that is loaded with the LOP.COM hijack.

Reboot to safe mode ( By tapping on the F8 key on start up )
Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall Messenger Plus!
Restart your computer, let us know if it helps

websearch2 removal is all too easy
To remove websearch2 ( the blue search bar at the bottom of your screen with all the ads ) and the toolbar attached to your browser,
simply goto ....

http://www.searchweb2.com/help.html#uninstall

and download the file toward the bottom of the page where it says
" Additionally a separate universal uninstall program may be downloaded here"
the file name is new_uninstall.exe then run it.

Also if you want to be thorough, open regedit, HKLM, run a search for search assistant , then delete the folder.........

POW BABY
It's Gone Cool
