@mark noble,
Well somebody doesn't know what the Strawman is about...but we'll move on to your only substantive comment...sell all your possessions.

It is obedience that matters to A Christian, loving obedience. You follow Jesus as you are meant to.

" 18 As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him. 19 But Jesus[e] refused, and said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy he has shown you.” "

So now you tell Jesus what to do-- it pretty much ends that way

@dalehileman,
Peirce was a Trinitarian and was persecuted by his overwhelmingly Unitarian friends. He would think pantheism an absurdity

I agree with what you said but just to expand a little...

That phrase is often used to 'expose the hypocrisy' of believers. It was not a general instruction to believers and not even meant literally to the man that he was speaking to.

In his knowledge of that particular man, Jesus knew what he had made most important in his life and placed ahead of God. There is nothing wrong with having money, but having it be the primary thing in your life is wrong. If sex had been the most important thing to him, Jesus would have said 'go, and be chaste' even though there is nothing wrong with sex.

@Bob70,
Why believe that He said it but also believe He didn't mean it. you get stupider by the day...BY THE DAY.

The principle of a sane man would be, Either accept the whole thing or don't.

"If you believe what you want in the Gospel and disbelieve what you want. You believe in yourself rather than in the Gospel."
Against Faustus, 17, 3, 400 A.D. St Augustine

God already know what is good for and what is not good for us.

And that means he knew he made a huge amount of people destined for eternal torment. No matter what act shy of actual physical revealing would they believe, yet chose not to give them the evidence that would convince them so they are endlessly tortured for not settling on blind belief.

Yeah sounds living to me..

That's simple, believers always know what their God wants. You think they fly planes into buildings on a whim?

Nope. But it's too bad most westerners react on a whim to what they did.
