What do you call the "texture" of cloth used for Kylo Ren's armour? The stuff with "holes" in it?

I know the stuff on the arms is called "pleated", but what about the chest and hood?

It looks almost thermal. Also kind of similar to the newer Star Trek uniforms.
Wikipedia
refers to those as having a quilted pattern.

Looks like a futuristic version of chain mail armor.
Could also be what is known as thermal or waffle knit fabric.
