Here's a thinking one..

"We never got that far,
this helps me to think all through the night
bright lights that, wont kill me now, or tell me how
just you and I your starless eyes remain."
~It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A F*ing Deathwish by My Chemical Romance

Heh, these are kind of punk rock lyrics. and new...the cd came out this year, I don't know if you all will know them but I figured I throw in what I know. Let me know if I caught the jist of this game or if I'm wayyy off. lol.

~Sincerely Yours...

Well I think I'm going out of my head
Yes I think I'm going out of my head over you, over you
I want you to want me I need you so badly
I can't think of anything but you yeah
And I think I'm going out of my head
Cause I can't explain these tears that I shed
Baby over you over you
I see you each morning
But you just walk past me
You don't even notice I exist

Going out of my head over you baby
Out of my head over you darlin'
Been out of my head oh baby
I must think of a way into your heart
There's no reason why
My being shy should keep us apart.

(Luther Vandross and lots of others)

It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It don't matter, anyhow
And it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
When your rooster crows at the breaks of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm traveling on
Don't think twice, it's all right.

It ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
And it ain't no use in turning on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
But I wish there was somethin' you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talking anyway
So don't think twice, it's all right.

It ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
Like you never done before
It ain't no use in calling out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I'm a - thinking and a - wond'rin' walking down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
Don't think twice, it's all right.

So long honey, babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
Goodbye's too good a word, babe
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain't saying you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right.

Bob Dylan

Hi dc darkangle - You got it just right. The only rule is to come up with lyrics containing the words "think" or "belief". Thanks for joining in!

Raggedyaggie! So nice to see you. And, of course, thanks for playing.

I just got back in town so I'm sorry if I missed welcoming anybody. I'm going to try to think up a new topic.....

IN BLACK & WHITE
(Janis Ian)
We were marching from Montgomery, Alabama, '65
Freedom riders, Jim Crow heros, come to keep the faith alive
We were picking Southern cotton, registration for the vote
We were one then - we were young then
When black & white still spoke
(chorus) Now it's all gone to pieces
God alone knows why
Just a story they call history
written down in black & white

And we set aside our anger, and we set aside our fears
And we built a common future on the bedrock of our tears
And we marched for the children and the millions without hope
We agreed to believe, when black & white still spoke

Now it's all gone to pieces
God alone knows why
Just a story they call history
written down in black & white

Nothing's sadder than the man who
thinks he's free when he is chained
to the prison of his hatred
and a dream gone up in flames

Colored only at the fountains,
congregations, soda shops
Colored only in the bathrooms
and the cemetery lots
And if Jesus was a black man
or as white as Sambo's grin
it's his words that we remember
not the color of his skin

It's all gone to pieces
God alone knows why
Just a story they call history
written down in black & white

From Showboat:

Only make believe I love you,
Only make believe that you love me.
Others find peace of mind in pretending,
Couldn't you?
Couldn't I?
Couldn't we?
Make believe our lips are blending
In a phantom kiss, or two, or three.
Might as well make believe I love you,
For to tell the truth I do.

Oh my land is like a wild goose
Wanders all around everywhere
Trembles and it shakes til every tree is loose
It rolls the meadows and it rolls the nails
So take me down to your dance floor
And I won't mind the people when they stare
Paint a different color on your front door
And tomorrow we will still be there

I loved you darling and now I'm leaving
And I can see the sorrow in your eyes
I hope you know a lot more than you believe in
I hope the sun don't hurt you when you cry
So take me down to your dance floor
And I won't mind the people when they stare
Paint a different color on your front door
And tomorrow we will still be there
And tomorrow we will still be there

"Don't Know When But A Day Is Gonna Come"~Bright Eyes. From the cd, Lifted or the story is in the soul, keep your ear to the ground.

Is it true what I heard about the Son of God? Did he come to save? Did he come at all?
And if I dried his feet, with my dirty hair, would he make me clean again?
They say they don't know when but a day is gonna come, when there won't be a moon
and there won't be a sun. It will just go back to the way it was before.
I knew a lovely girl, with such pretty pride, and every man wanted her, and so did I.
So did I. But she up and died in a fit of vanity.
Now men with purple hearts, carry silver guns. And they will kill a man
for what his father has done. But what my father did, you know it don't mean sh*t.
I'm not him.
So you think I need some discipline, well, I had my share. I have been sent to my room.
I've been sat in a chair. And I held my tongue. I didn't plug my ears. No, I got a good talking to.
And now I don't know why, but I still try to smile when they talk at me
like I'm just a child. Well, I'm not a child. No, I am much younger than that.
And now I have read some books and have grown quite brave. If only I could just speak up I think
I would say that there is no truth. There is only you and what you make the truth.
So I will just sing my song and I'll pass a hat. Then I'll leave your town and never look back.
No, I don't look back because the road is clear and laid out ahead of me.
I'll get home and meet my friends at our favorite bar. We'll get some lighter heads for our heavy hearts.
And we will share a drink. Yeah we will share our fears and they will know how I love them.
They will know how I love. They will know how I love them.
I am nothing without their love.
I don't know when but a day is gonna come when there won't be a moon and there won't be a sun.
It will all go black. It will all go back to the way it is supposed to be.
Is it true what I heard about the Son of God? Did he die for us? Did he die at all?
And if I sold my soul for a bag of gold, which one of us would be the foolish one?
Which one of us would be the fool? Which one of us would be the foolish one?
Which one of us would be the fool?
Could you please start explaining? You know, I need some understanding.
I could do good with some explaining. You know. I want to understand.

thinking about you
radiohead

been thinking about you
your records are here
your eyes are on my wall
your teeth are over there
but i'm still no one, and you're now a star what do you care?
been thinking about you, and there's no rest
should i still love you still
see you in bed but i'm playing with myself
and what do you care when i'm not there
all the things you got
all the things you need
who bought your cigarettes?
who bribed the company to come and see you, honey?
been thinking about you
so how can you sleep?
these people aren't your friends
they're paid to kiss your feet
they don't know what i know
and why should you care when i'm not there?
all the things you got
all the things you need
who bought your cigarettes?
who bribed the company to come and see you?
been thinking about you

Bowl Of Oranges
Bright Eyes

The rain it started tappin'
On the window near my bed
There was a loophole in my dreamin'
So I got out of it
And to my surprise my eyes were wide and already open
Just my nightstand and my dresser
Where those nightmares had just been

So I dressed myself and left then
Out into the gray streets
But everything seemed different
And completely new to me
The sky the trees, houses, buildings, even my own body
And each person I encountered
I couldn't wait to meet

And I came upon a doctor
Who appeared in quite poor health
I said there's nothing that I can do for you you can't do for yourself
He said oh yes you can, just hold my hand, I think that that would help
So I sat with him awhile
Then I asked him how he felt

He said I think I'm cured
No, in fact, I'm sure of it
Thank you, stranger
For your therapeutic smile

So that's how I learned the lesson
That everyone's alone
And your eyes must do some raining
If you're ever gonna grow
And when crying don't help
You can't compose yourself
It's best to compose a poem
An honest verse of longing
Or a simple song of hope

That's why I'm singing baby don't worry
'Cause now I got your back
And every time you feel like crying
I'm gonna try and make you laugh
And if I can't
If it just hurts too bad
Then we'll wait for it to pass
And I will keep you company for those days so long and black

And we'll keep working on the problem
We know we'll never solve
Of love's uneven remainders
Our lives are fractions of a whole
But if the world could remain within a frame
Like a painting on a wall
Then I think we'd see the beauty then
We'd stand staring in awe

At our still lives posed
Like a bowl of oranges
Like a story told
By the fault-lines and the soil

Believe me
If all those endearing young charms
Which I gaze on so fondly today
Were to change by tomorrow
And fleet in my arms
Like fairy gifts fading away

Thou would still be adored
As this moment thou art
Let thy loveliness fade as it will
And around the dear ruin
Each wish of my heart
Would entwine itself verdantly still

It is not while beauty
And youth are thine own
And thy cheeks unprofaned by a tear
That the fervor and faith
Of a soul can be known
To which time has but made thee more dear
No, the heart which has truly
Loved never forgets
But as truly loves on to the close
As the sunflower turns
To her god when he sets
The same look which she gave when he rose

She said, "Listen, baby. You can hear the engine
ring. We've been up and down this highway;
haven't seen a goddam thing."
He said, "Call the doctor. I think I'm gonna crash."
"The doctor say he's comin', but you gotta pay him cash."
They went rushin' down that freeway,
messed around and got lost
They didn't know they were just dyin' to get off
And it was life in the fast lane
Life in the fast lane

Here I come...

Do you think I could ever care
'Bout a girl, who's never there?
Do you think I could ever care
'Bout a girl who's never there?
I saw her on the subway
Saw her on the D-train
Saw her in the afternoon
After all the Giants' games
Saw her on the freeway
Saw her on a highway
Gimme a break, I need a Yellow Cab
Help me get outta this rain

Do you think I could ever care
'Bout a girl who's almost never there?
Do you think the clothes she wears
Would change my mind
Or turn my hair?
I saw her on a freeway
Saw her on a A-train
Saw her hangin' out
On 52nd and Broad
Saw her on a highway
Saw her on a skyway
Ahhhh, need a Yellow Cab, Ronnie
Let me get outta the rain

Yeah......g'head
Good job
Yeah!

I saw her on a highway
On a D-train
I saw her eatin' a pizza
On 75th and Broadway
Saw her on a subway
On a biplane
Ahh, I'm getting tired o' this ****
I need a Yellow Cab
Help me get outta this rain

Do you think I could ever care
'Bout a girl who's almost never there?
Do you think ......could ever care
'Bout a girl who cares about the...the clothes she wears?
Do you think I could ever care
'Bout a girl that even dyes her hair?

The song
Do you think
Whooo
Oh no
Whooo

Ohhh, do you think I would really care
'Bout a woman......who's never there?
Do you think I'd ever care
'Bout a woman....the clothes she wears?

'Bout a girl who's hardly ever there?
Whooo! Whooo!
Well, that's alright
Whooo

Winding your way down on Baker Street
Lite in your head, and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day, you drink the night away
And forget about everything
This city desert makes you feel so cold, its got
So many people but its got no soul
And its taken you so long to find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything.
You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're tryin, you're tryin now
Another year and then you'd be happy
Just one more year and then you'd be happy
But you're cryin', you're cryin now
Way down the street there's a light in his place
You open the door, he's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been, you tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything
He's got this dream about buyin' some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then he'll settle down, it's a quiet little town
And forget about everything
But you know he'll always keep moving
You know he's never gonna stop moving
Cause he's rollin, He's the rolling stone
And when you wake up it's a new morning
The sun is shining it's a new morning
And you're going, you're going home
