"Get Your Kicks on Route 66" was recorded by Nat "King" Cole in 1946. (I don't know when this film was made.) It has been covered by about sixty other performers, and it spawned a television series which Americans of a certain age will recall. That series ran for four years, and introduced the actors Martin Milner and George Maharis. I don't believe that it is any longer possible to drive from Chicago to L.A. on Route 66.

@Setanta,
Here's another, more of a road/bus song though.

@Setanta,
That's a relief, I thought it might not pass muster.

Music threads are for fun, i don't want to be a hard ass. At one time, i hoped to keep people from flooding the threads, or putting song after song by the same artists. It didn't work out very well, and was not in a spirit of fun. Having a theme like this works better than all female vocalists or all male vocalists, which can lead to those other problems.
