@revelette2,
I meant reply to all, sorry

Apart from the issue of gun availability which is now a horse out of the barn America seems to be coming apart at the seams. It appears to be being torn asunder by old issues like race and abortion, the relatively recent issue of sexual identity and associated laws and now the Muslim wave. The Economist says. "the beat is quickening: such events have occurred this year at a rate of more than one per day, and in almost every state, according to the Mass Shootings Tracker."

Doesn't sound promising at all.

Today in the Congress a bill was squashed that would prevent people on the no-fly list from buying guns. In other words, you can be prevented from boarding an airplane, but you can still buy all the guns your heart desires.

Lets give a big shout out to the NRA for making sure that potential terrorists in the US can still buy lots and lots of guns and build bombs. I think the NRA has perverted the intent of the second amendment.

OMG: These motherfucking generally useless "journalists" are almost toying with calling this an islamic terrorist attack....or more likely whatever the current cutsy soft euphemism for that is in this weeks directory from the elite on approved language.

This is pretty ******* embarrassing though, sooner would be better than later.

They'll leave that to President Obama who has already made a statement addressing it as another senseless mass shooting "without parallel anywhere in the world" Other than Paris, Nairobi and Mali of course.

When these atrocities happen elsewhere it's always an act of terrorism. Only in America is there a possibility that some "good ol' boy" has used guns to settle a petty argument.

@hawkeye10,
Just perhaps they would rather wait for the evidence to come in before making definitive statements. At this point, we really don't know despite the stockpiles of weapons at home rather it was work related or terrorism or both. There is reason to suspect both.

News reports are saying that the wife of the shooter had pledged allegiance to Islamic State.

@Lash,
Of course it was terrorism. The question was (or perhaps still is) what kind of it.

What would be a question in other countries - 'where and how did they get the weapons' - isn't one, it seems.

@Walter Hinteler,
Read today that the woman had pledged allegiance to IS on some facebook account...

It's hard to terrorize a people that's numbed by so many mass murders, though.

She should know what? I don't know what you're talking about? If you do, perhaps you can explain.

@Walter Hinteler,
It's becoming the vogue now not to call Islamic terrorism by its name. I'm not playing that new, irritating game.

We all know it was Islamic terrorism - unless you are squeezing your eyelids closed over the articles.

Feigning ignorance about it doesn't help Islam.

@Lash,
This time, they link it to ISIS. Ten years ago, it would have been Al Qaeda. Islamic terror was once popularly branded with Al Qaeda. Now they use the Islamic State.

I don't. But that might be related to the fact, I get the police results here later.

For a while I thought it perhaps a twisted attempt to conceal the murder of a single individual.

Guess I was wrong.

Scary.

Neither does calling Islamist terrorism Islamic. There is a huge difference, and browbeating others about their supposedly feigned ignorance does nothing to hide your own very real ignorance. It is deliciously ironic though, like someone asking if the Jews were really controlled Stalin and then going on to teach a class on the Holocaust.

It's not a typo either, you wrote Islamic twice.

@Lash,
What makes me wonder is that although the Islamic State quickly asserted responsibility for last month’s shootings in Paris and for other recent attacks, the group so far does not appear to have done the same for the San Bernardino shooting. At least not on any of the known Islamistic websites.
