Re: offeroptimizer/lycos search
I'm skipping the running processes, we may have to do a second round to get rid of your infection.

Please do the following steps in safe mode, if you do not know how to do so, then ask.

1) Go to your add/remove programs menu in your control panel and uninstall anything like Gain, Gator or WinTools

2) Fix this item in HJT

Now when all steps are completed, reboot and report your results (even if you have no problems anymore, as this helps us help others).

this may help
you were stating having a problem with offeroptimizer....there is a download site that has helped me...its called belarc advisor...its a free download that tells you every program that is installed on your computer and even programs missing on your computer to run properly...heres the address: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html. when you download it scroll down to installed programs, oferoptimizer should be there along with another malware called "windows tools for ie". there is a * next to each program, click on it and it will take you to where the files are stored on your computer, then just delete them there because they will be in one area. hope this helps, but belarc advisor is an excellent tool to see whats really on your computer.
