@chai2,
I zap all small seeds like flax, even sunflower in my bullet, then mix the meal with oatmeal.

Tastes better when used in moderation.

@neologist,
That's too much noise, and effort.

When someone turns on a blender, food processor or coffee grinder, even for a couple of seconds, I want to get out of that area ASAP.

In addition, I really like my foods as simple as possible. Why grind it up when you can eat it whole? I always take an apple over apple sauce anyday, and have no idea why people insist on taking a perfect banana and doing anything to it.

Of course many foods have to be processed to one extent or another, i.e. bread, yogurt, pasta, but I'm not the one buzzing and whirring the grain.

Yogurt ferments pretty quietly though, I'll give it that.

@chai2,
True about the noise. Flax isn't much good unless it's made into flax meal, though. You can buy it that way. It just costs a bit more and I don't think it keeps as well.

@neologist,
flax seed keep for years in a sealed package. However, once you grind it up, it can go bad ... oxidizing in weeks. I have a good grinder and I grind what I need for my recipe (or adding to steel cut oatmeal) just before I use it.
