All great songs have a great hook or ace solo. two of my all time favorite songs -------
#1 Politician by Cream. the hook, Jack Bruce's bass playing against Eric Claptons lead guitar
#2 Crossroads by Cream (the old Robert Johnson cut) the fast all embracing guitar solo by Eric Clapton.
There are many many more. What compares
Richard Thompson- great playing, voice, and lyrics
you are right gala ---- I remember seeing Richard Thompson playing in London pubs in the 60s
Dyslexia -- Of course, I should of included Ginger Baker
oldandknew, I can listen to the same songs of RT's over and over again and not get bored.
I think Stevie Winwood used to be great, but he sold out- When I listen to some of his older stuff it sounds really good but feels
dated.
got to agree with you gala. i recently got a CD of the Yardbirds recordings from the 1960s. It brought back a whole heap of musical and life's memories.
The first musician I thought of was Jimi Hendrix.... I can still remember feeling the electricity in my spine!
The intro to "Hotel California" (the Eagles) is one of my favorites, too.
Peace and Love ---- yes jimi hendrix is an unfading light, even now.
The intro to "Hotel California" is one of the great rock and roll signatures.
Another intro that is great, is Joe Cocker's "With A Little From My Friends". The song's whole rendition is great.
Intros?
Two words.
Brown Sugar.
