basically a moron friend sent me a url to a porn site as a joke--after i made the mistake of clicking on it something seems to have got installed on my machine that pops up a porn page randomly every once in a while while i'm surfing--sometimes i'll go a long time without having one pop up, at other times it'll happen frequently.

how do i identify and get rid of this?

this is driving me nuts--please help!

i have ad-aware and spy-bot search and destroy installed (and updated since this happened) but neither seems to zap the problem.

Mongo,

I'd suggest that you'd also check out how you are connected. Are you using cable or dialup? Some of those porn links will dial from your phone too. My neighbor got a link like that and ran up his bill a few hundred dollars.
