The bible shows us a way of life lived many years ago and offers some examples of how to survive life or come to grief. It can teach us some lessons in morality. Beyond that it is just a fairy story like Grimm's fairy stories which fascinate and repel at the same time
That is one of the most perceptive takes on scripture that i've read in more decades than i can account for. I especially liked the last line--well written.

@jelllybaby,
Welcome to a2k.
I've seen your other posts. You are only 72 and ready to check out. I am sorry to have read that. But why should I believe your resignation letter?

@neologist,
No one is saying it is God's desire to take life away, but you know enough scripture to know that he grants free will and that most will choose not to follow the narrow path to his kingdom but will take the wider one to destruction.
Man, a bit direct but to your point, you are correct. I also love the fact that it reveals that soon, Jesus, by means of the Kingdom, will bring about the conditions highlighted at Revelation 21:3, 4; Matthew 5:5; Psalm 37:9-11, 29.

@jelllybaby,
But it never occurred to you to ask how this collection of 73 books came to be any source of teaching. That is why you are always so confused, you accept that there is a Bible but the questions that naturally should follow about such a man-made assemblage of existing books, you don't even question.
