I booked a flight online and later I requested that my flight be cancelled, and that I request a refund of ticket minus the £55 cancelation fee. At first they said that there was no residual value in the ticket, the airline said the ticket was refundable minus $100 fee. So my $1,000 ticket still had a $900 value! The agent agreed to cancel but when I checked with the airline they tell me that they had not cancelled or applied for refund. The agent is not responding to my emails.
At the very least the agent should return the taxes as per consumer law in the uk, it seems that many others have been caught out by this company.
The airline simply refers me back the agent and will not allow me to cancel and get a refund without the agents consent.
What consumer protection is available without having to resort to litigation?
I am considering asking for a charge back on my credit card
@Steams,
You seem to be having some unusual consumer problems. How is this happening along with this event?

@Ragman,
Well, it is unusual to have to deal with two doses of crap simultaneously. Just seems that when it rains it pours.
I hope there is some yang to this ying.
