One explanation of why some people communicating via text are more depressed is that they can't deny what they have said like they often do when speaking. Text more easily reveals when someone is talking in circles and can't get out of their own endless loops.
It's very frustrating to be convicted by your own words.
That said, there are few things more fun that talking face to face when both people are honestly pursuing the same truth.
