I have an old maple tree (25+yrs) and I noticed a sawdust like dusting around the base of the tree on the bark about 6 inches or so off the ground. The next day It rained really hard and there was a pocket of water by the roots and I looked in it and it seemed like the sawdust had turned into larvea. Can you tell me what this is?

@msjourdak,
You should probably have an arborist come out and take a look at the tree and treat it for an infestation.

Of what, I don't know, but if you are interested in saving the tree, it might be a good idea to be proactive.
