Browser Opens Porn Window while on other sites

Get rid of all of those. Most are innocuous but you can put em back when you are sorted out.



Looks fishy. I'd at least fix this with HJT and possibly even delete the file.

Try removing that file (copy to removeable media to be able to replace it if I am wrong) and then see what happens.

I bet that's it.

so far so good.....i fixed the mmc thing with hjt

what is that mmc.exe anyway? is it a virus, trojan, or a legitimate file? I am just curious before i delete the file.

also why didnt norton, or spybot catch it?

Not mmc.exe but mcc.exe. I note this explicitly because many people end up reading these forums to fix their computers and mmc.exe is a legitimate process.

mcc.exe isn't something I have much knowledge on and these baddies change every day.

But the reference to an auidio codec was a hint, and the fact that audio codecs do not need to run on computer startup made it a no brainer to test.

It shouldn't have to run all the time and it was the only thing running that caught my eye.



Because new names and new exploits are created faster than they identify and include in their definition sets.

It's tricky stuff and the programs out there are not up to snuff, if they were, you wouldn't see sooo many people needing Hijack this log interpretation.
