Why do we need God?

I remembered a sci fi novel wherein an alien artificial intelligence tried to answer Earth's scientists' questions on God. When asked how many sentient races (which it encountered during its journey through space) believed in God, it answered only 5. Earth scientists then asked whether these 5 races were bisexual to which the alien intellence in astonishment answered, yes. It then then asked how the scientists came to that conclusion. No elaboration was made in the novel but the answer is clear. When a race is bisexual, the 2 sexes are incomplete. How many of us slept and lived with our spouse without understanding him or her well? To complete our state of incompleteness, we create a complete being i.e. God. Ah... to be unisexual, to be an amoeba, to be complete.
