School Bus Issues

Question for how you would handle this - the high school offers buses for a fee - $300/year. Prior to this, students/parents had to get their kids to school by driving them or carpooling.

So this is a trial year. The other afternoon - the buses were delayed a half hour because a student was parked illegally blocking the buses from leaving. My daughter texted me from the bus telling me while she was stuck sitting on the bus -- after a half hour and the bus driver calling the school office twice, I called the school. They told me the buses were just leaving.

My daughter later told me a boy came out, the bus driver yelled at him and he just laughed and got in his car and drove away. My daughter did not know him, but she did say the bus driver wrote the liscence plate - must have told the office when the plate number when she called.

I can understand if the kid came out right away or if he apologized - but apparently he did not give a rats a$$. The student handbook explains that driving and parking at the school is a privilege and the students need to park in certain areas (which I assume is not in front of the school buses).

If the car was blocking a school bus, it should have been ticketed and then towed.

Find out how these kinds of issues are being handled. Jerks like that kid will continue to repeat their offense until the consequences are really stiff.

$300 a year to ride the school bus?

Wow.

Here they just give the kids a pass so they can ride the city's transit system.

Next time someone parks like that I'd call a tow truck.
