@edgarblythe,
Yeah. One link said critical injuries, another said moderate.

@Frank Apisa,
I know that golf course. That's in my old neighborhood. Sigh.

@ossobuco,
More details here:

I'm curious which hospital he went to for my own reasons (know three of the main ones), but that'll show up in the news later.

I retaught myself how to do a screen shot (well, sort of) -

@ossobuco,
Bob Pooler was interviewed on Radio 4's PM earlier today.

Quote:
The actor Harrison Ford is recovering in hospital after his vintage plane crash-landed on a Los Angeles golf course.

The 72-year old reported engine trouble shortly after taking off from Santa Monica airport.

Ford also happens to be a lifetime member of the Shropshire Aero Club in the UK.

The Chief Flying instructor Bob Pooler told BBC News Ford is an "very competent" pilot.

@izzythepush,
Yes - I think it was the miami herald link that had most comments on his piloting ability, including in this incident.

The thing is, if the messed up engine kept going, it's not all that far west to the Pacific Ocean.. or landing on the beach. Oy. Or a zillion buildings/cars.
Lincoln Blvd, labeled with the 1 number, is essentially 8th Street; well, a few more blocks than that at that location of Lincoln, but it ain't far to blue water.

@ossobuco,
It's good there's a happy ending, a few cuts and bruises only add to his star quality. If only he'd landed on Russell Brand.

@izzythepush,
Broken pelvis reported somewhere, but maybe not badly..

laughing re Russell Brand. I don't really follow his writeups but I've read a little of him.

He had the good sense to land on a golf course. But from what I hear, he had forgotten his clubs.

Looks like a very compact course...and right at the end of a runway.

@Frank Apisa,
Yeah. I didn't ever play it, stopped with golf in my mid teens. Father and uncle took myself and my cousin to Rancho Park p & p. Cousin hated it, so we desisted. I sort of follow the sport, though. I assume Penmar is a pitch and putt type. I've walked or driven by it many times.

The airport is in fight or flight mode re safety and noise issues now that it has Lear Jets bopping about. That's old Douglas Aircraft land. Lots of my pals live in that whole area. This will probably increase the rancor/debate.

@ossobuco,
looks like the plane will make a good planter after this.
I wonder if he didn't have his fuel lines open.

@ossobuco,
no, but he took off and engine cutoff. Course, if it ere fuel, he would have turned the switches when it was flaming out, unless he couldn't get enough nose down room to catch
Anyway, I don't know **** because they said that his engine SEIZED UP.
So, he was buy making a 180 turn and landing on the green.
I wonder whether any golfers were pissed at him?

There's an audio here on TMZ re Ford and the airport folks. It's all garble to my fuzzball ears, but maybe you guys can figure it out.
You have to scroll a bit.
