Sweet Drom, but the new stuff is so alien and elusive. I pride myself on keepin' up with all kinds of music. Doesn't seem possible anymore. Crying or Very sad

Panzade: well, maybe there should be a thread about modern music (and how, most of the time, it is comparatively crap to the oldies?)

drĂ²m, I tend to disagree. There is a lot of crappy music out there today, yes, but lots of good stuff too. There are just many more bands today than there were in past decades. You have to search hard or have good sources. Maybe there should be a thread....

Perhaps to cover both sides, the good and the bad? You're right... it's all a matter of wading through the rough, and all the rubbish produced by these manufactured, preteen bands..

I'll tell you what it is! And I'm really pissed off about it. Companies like Clear Channel have completely choked off any new music unless it fits their play lists. Used to be I could listen to AM and underground radio and hear a wide variety. No more. I know there's great new music out there and A2K helps me find it. Keep it up.

Perhaps we should have a recommendations thread; because, like Panz. said, if one goes by what the radio plays, then one could easily feel that good music is dead.

We only had one alternative radio station in the West Midlands. All it plays now is Avril Lavigne and Nickelback...

Atlantic - Eddie from Ohio

(Recommendations thread! I like it!)

(Panz, have you heard my plugging of the Candy Butchers yet? If not, and if you want good new music, check out their album "Hang on Mike." Smile)

(Nickelback....ARRRRGHHH...)

(I did a thread like it, about musical discoveries, but that only covers part of the whole recommendations thing..

(Incidentally, I've ordered a few CBs albums from Amazon.)

We really should write N______ in future, or we'll get people searching for N_____ coming to us, which can't be good ;D.

Cut 1/2 Blues - Beck

(Agreed. N_________ is not even worth being associated with us in a search.)

(And I hope that you enjoy the Butchers!)

(They seemed interesting from the excerpts that I heard on Amazon. Which album of theirs would you recommend to hear first?)

(Jesus, yes; in the future, they'll be able to read these pages... maybe as a novel... and to think that we should be allied with N_______ in the future really is painful.)

(I currently only have "Hang on Mike," but I plan on buying more when I can.)

(Wow, has it really been 5 years since I bought a Smog album?!? The last one I purchased was "Knock Knock." Unfamiliar with the song "Distance," I went to find a list of his albums, and apparently he has four new ones... I need to keep up with my namesake a little more.)

(Did you name yourself after him, or after smog in general? It does seem a long time... but who would imagine that four albums would be released within five years?)

Gold Dust - duster

(I have used this name in various internet communities over the last 3 or 4 years because I like Smog's (Bill Callahan's) music and the name is quite nifty, I think.)

(I hope you enjoy it, panz, if you check it out!)

(I agree, Smog, it is a very interesting name and Smog's music is good. Do you visit many of these places now? Have you ever had your own community?)
