I've had it with the wishy washy lyrics in so many songs. I thought it a good idea to rewrite some of them, beginning with
Before the Next Teardrop Falls
Freddie Fender's version:
If He Brings You Happiness
Then I Wish You All The Best
It's Your Happiness That Matters Most Of All
But If He Ever Breaks Your Heart
If The Teardrops Ever Start
I'll Be There Before The Next Teardrop Falls
Tho' It Hurts To Let You Go
Darling I Want You To Know
That I'll Stand By You If Ever You Should Call
And If I Should Ever Hear
That He Made You Shed A Tear
I'll Be There Before The Next Teardrop Falls
I'll Be There Any Time
You Need Me By Your Side
To Dry Away
Every Teardrop That You Cried
If He Ever Leaves You Blue
Just Remember I Love You
I'll Be There Before The Next Teardrop Falls
Yes I'll Be There
Before The Next Teardrop Falls
My version:
If he brings you happiness
I respect you all the less
To you my happiness matters least of all
And if he ever breaks your heart
If the teardrops ever start
I'll be gone before the next teardrop falls
Though it hurts to let you go
Darling I want you to know
I'll change the number in case you should call
And if I ever hear
That he made you shed a tear
I'll have abeer
Before the next teardrop falls
I'll be scarce any time you ever need me by your side
To brush away every teardrop that you cried
If he ever leaves you blue
Just remember I loved you
I'll be scarce before the next teardrop falls
Yes I'll be gone before the next teardrop falls
This should be good. I'll come back later with an offering.
BEND ME, SHAPE ME
THE AMERICAN BREED
You are all the woman I need, and baby you know it,
You can make this beggar a king, a clown or a poet.
I'll give you all that I own.
You got me standing in line
Out in the cold,
pay me some mind.
Bend me, shape me
Anyway you want me,
Long as you love me, it's all right
Bend me, shape me
Anyway you wnat me,
You got the power to turn on the light.
Everybody tells me I'm wrong to want you so badly,
But there's a force driving me on, I follow it gladly.
So let them laugh I don't care,
Cause I got nothing to hide,
All that I want is you by my side.
Bend me, shape me
Anyway you want me,
Long as you love me, it's all right
Bend me, shape me
Anyway you wnat me,
You got the power to turn on the light.
Bend me shape me anyway you want me (fade)
You are all the woman I need and baby you know it
You can make this suitor feel like a king and a poet
I will share all that I own
But I won't stand in some line
Out in the cold
Pay me some mind
Respect me love me
Put no one above me
Long as you love me it's all right
Respect me love me
Put no one above me
You got the power to turn on the light
Everbody tells me I'm wrong to want you so badly
But there's a force driving me on I follow it gladly
So let them scoff I don't care
Cause I got nothing to hide
All that I want is you by my side
Respect me love me
Put no one above me
Long as you love me it's all right
Respect me love me
Put no one above me
You got the power to turn on the light
Respect me love me (fade ...)
Heartbreak Hotel
(words & music by mae b. axton - tommy durden - elvis presley)
Well, since my baby left me,
I found a new place to dwell.
It's down at the end of lonely street
At heartbreak hotel.
You make me so lonely baby,
I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.
And although it's always crowded,
You still can find some room.
Where broken hearted lovers
Do cry away their gloom.
You make me so lonely baby,
I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.
Well, the bell hop's tears keep flowin',
And the desk clerk's dressed in black.
Well they been so long on lonely street
They ain't ever gonna look back.
You make me so lonely baby,
I get so lonely,
I get so lonely I could die.
Hey now, if your baby leaves you,
And you got a tale to tell.
Just take a walk down lonely street
To heartbreak hotel.
My version:
Well since my baby left me
I found a new place to dwell
I moved out and I told her
You just go straight to hell
I used to be so lonely
You made me feel so lonely
I felt so lonely I could die
My new home is always crowded
But there is still some room
For all my friends and lovers
So fed up with gloom
They used to be so lonely
They were made to feel so lonely
They felt so lonely they could die
Well cervesa keeps on flowing
Three more kegs in back
We walked away from lonely street
We ain't never gonna look back
I used to be so lonely
You made me feel so lonely
I felt so lonely I could die
Well if your baby leaves you
You got a tale to tell
Just walk away from lonely street
And tell them go to hell
