Why don't they have a program to identify facial features in the web getting underage porn off?

Funding??? illegal????

Well no one fund p2p networks unless you consider joining such a network and making part of your computer resources available to the network and sharing some of your files on your hard drive is funding it.

Illegal have we not been talking about legal adult porn? I get confused when you change the subject from legal adult porn to child porn and back again.

@BillRM,
Well are there any laws were you live about safeguarding adult material from minors? Are the suppliers of this product doing the best they can to abide by these laws?

I have no idea and I am fairly sure any underage teenagers in my area who are downloading porn over the net from around the world does not know or care either about local laws design to protect them.

Local laws does not apply to foreign websites or to p2p networks with hundreds of thousands of computers sharing files from all over the planet.

@BillRM,
What safeguard measures are the distributors of the product taking to ensure that they are not giving it to the hands of minors? Do some target minors? Are they even checking identification to who they are distributing the product to?

@peter jeffrey cobb,
Once the porn is released the producers have lost control as people turn the DVDs into files and share them on line.

It is worst then others movies or even music for that matter.

@BillRM,
Well If the decision is made that a crime is being committed. Than local authorities have the power to shut down the crime scene. At least until a process is established, where some effort, on the part of the distributors of the material, is being made to follow local ordinances.

@BillRM,
Well being that filters for adult material exist. Couldn't you shut down the adult section? Could the big servers like Google or yahoo share some of the responsibility for not establishing an identification system for the distribution of adult material, resulting in exposure to minors?

@peter jeffrey cobb,
It was difficult to impossible to screen off erotic knowledge when all of Sade was in book form, not in print, and the copies all in private hands or under lock and key in the library. I dont see how you do it in 2014.

@hawkeye10,
It would be difficult to build anything perfect. But at least showing some effort on the part of the distributors, to attempt to follow local ordinances, would greatly improve the current system.

Filters do not work just ask any IT guy who have the job of trying to control what middle schoolers can access by way of the school networks and equipments.

My public library have internet wireless that have some heavy filters due to Congress demanding such for receiving federal funding and when I run into such blocks I just boot TOR and tunnel right through the filtering.

Kids know about TOR and free VPN networks in far more details then most adults.

Oh you might look up articles in how well the porn filtering is doing in the UK as far as keeping children from viewing porn.

@BillRM,
The filter would separate the bulk of the material. That will make it easier to start looking at what is escaping the filter. Than one could begin to improve the filter.

Sorry I have try to explained to you but until you get a little more understanding of how the net work and why filtering on the net does not work it kind of pointless.

@BillRM,
Well what do you recommend? Laws are being broken. As you heard from witnesses in this discussion. Minors have easy access to adult material.
Identification for the distribution of adult material is not even attempted to be verified. It is questionable if some of it are even targeting their product to minors.
How do we begin to resolve this problem?

you have not sold me that there is a problem to solve. So what if youngsters see sex? How are they harmed? During most of modern civilization most kids have grown up on farms watching the farm animals do it...were they harmed? How? By the time kids are 12 they have seen tons of violence at the tv, in film, on the news, at NASCAR, wrestling and on and on. They can see that but not sex? Why?

@peter jeffrey cobb,
what does "targeted" mean? I dont approve when adult show kids porn to prep them for sex, but I have a feeling that is not what you mean.

BTW: I think people should gain their sexual freedom at 15, when I say anything about what I think should be re undereage I am talking about 14 and younger.

@hawkeye10,
Local communities can discuss the guidelines they choose to use.
I'm pretty sure that images and sites in the web can be cleaned up.
If someone wrote a how to book on how to build weapons of mass destruction. Than put it in the web, I am pretty sure that will disappear from it in a hurry.

you talk like it is 1964. Local communities no longer have any control over information flow, and they never had as much as they pretended to have.

@hawkeye10,
If the citizens of the community decide they need increase enforcement of their laws. Than these communities that you are referring to, might regain control of adult material being targeted to minors.
