Correct colon usage?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to add punctuation to this sentence:

As an improviser, I am constantly challenged to be more open to new opportunities and more resilient in how I pursue them: a lesson that has weaved itself into many of my most rewarding academic and professional experiences.

I'm wondering whether the colon between "them" and "a lesson" is correct. If not, do you know what punctuation should be used?

Thanks so much for all of your help!

@mynameisjonas783,
No, a colon is not appropriate.

Also, 'being challenged' is not 'a lesson'.
...I am constantly challenged to be more open... a lesson that has weaved itself

The second part needs to be reworded.

@mynameisjonas783,
Start a new sentence and correct the past participle of "weave".
.....pursue them. This is a lesson which has woven itself...
