@PAgrandma,
I'm getting confused - we need ehBeth to clarify the rules and what we can do when we are unable to move on. Lustig repeated a word ehBeth had used a couple of posts ago - can we do that? I don't think we can simply change letters in a word can we? I believe it's a case of using the same letters and adding or deducting one.

@vonny,
yes - the idea is to add / delete letters as we move along, not to simply rearrange the letters - i.e. dare to read wouldn't work but dare to dared works (in an emergency, we can go up/down 2 letters but doing that too often could get messy)

there are times we might end up at the same word going up and down and that's all right as sometimes you can head in different directions after that move

looks like Andy somehow jumped a move but we can move on from 'freed' (I think - I'll go back and confirm and do the next word Smile )

Thanks for the advice - I do get into an awful muddle at times! Embarrassed I usually see that I've posted the wrong thing - but not until it's too late to correct it without killing a hamster!!! Rolling Eyes

[Sorry about causing the road-block, folks. I'll try to be more careful next time. Meanwhile, no ideas on 'fettle'; I'm stuck and that's a fine fettle. Smile]
