I already followed the directions from Author Message
timberlandko But I still can't permanently remove the Searchmeup annoyance. Please refer to the Highjackthis log below. Thanks for any help!

Searchmeup is a CoolWebSearch infection:

Download, update and run
CWShredder
Click Fix, don't just scan. Let it fix everything it asks about.

Next, post a HijackThis log not a startup list:

Launch HijackThis, then press Scan, and press Save Log.

This will generate a text file that will list all running processes, all applications that are loaded automatically when you start Windows, and more.

Open that file.
Go to Edit | Select all
Now click Edit | copy to copy it.

Do not change anything just yet.
Come back to the forum, Right Click and paste its contents here.

Thanks Nirvana
After I ran CWShredder, I had no more problems with Searchmeup.com.

My homepage stays on restarts of IE 6.01 and I can now access Windows Update without the "time/date" error problem.

Thanks!
