A float is of course used typically in your home pool but what's a spring float and how would a papasan float differ from a mamasan float

the description of the product at amazon explains why it is a spring float

...

because it springs open

or as it's described at basspro

and the papasan chair per wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papasan_chair

(and it handily explains what a mamasan chair is as well)

Quote:
A Papasan chair (also called a bowl chair) is a large rounded bowl-shaped chair with an adjustable angle similar to that of a futon. The bowl rests in an upright frame traditionally made of rattan, but also sometimes made of sturdy wicker or wood. While similar designs of furniture have existed around the world, the papasan was introduced in the United States in the 1950s, and rose to great popularity in the 1970s.

The cushion of the chair is typically thick velveteen material filled with cotton fluff. In traditional papasans, the cushion can be removed and used outside of the sturdy frame, although it is hand-wash only.

The Mamasan chair is a double-seating version, and was introduced to the western world in the 1950s. Prior to that it was in use in far eastern Asia, particularly in Indonesia, Thailand and Japan.

The "Papasan chair" is typically 35-60 inches wide and 15 inches deep.

Thanks Beth, it's not everyday….

To spare me the Googling might you know if or how the mamasan float differs.

Edited to note from Wiki link,

"The Mamasan chair is a double-seating version,…….1950s…...particularly in Indonesia, Thailand and Japan."

@dalehileman,
when you ask a question on this forum - and someone answers it - you have the ability to give the person who answers it a star. It turns your question into an answered question.

If you don't 'award' the star, the question remains 'unanswered' in the a2k system.

Aha
I've avoided all such, until now, owing to a deteriorating 83-year-old recall; then there's the eternal call of yardwork

Thank you once more Beth for your immense patience and forbearance

Incidentally Beth if you enjoy Googling,

I assure you this time I had googled for what seems like hours until I concluded that no such device exists……but still……..

@dalehileman,
Look at the options above every post. At a minimum, they are Reply, Quote, and Report. If you have posted this as a question, there is an additional option. It is Selected Answer. Click that and you award a red ribbon. Why not a blue ribbon or a gold star I do not know.

@roger,
True, but people don't see the possibility of seeing the quote button unless they check in their preferences (I don't know what else, haven't looked lately).
