I need help to determine the best way to arrange furniture in a large room with no wall space for furniture placement and two large stone fireplaces at each end of the room.

@Kari11,
Depending on the size of the furniture, you could do one conversation seating in the middle of the room with some stand alone seating and large plants in the corners.

You could also do two conversation arrangements at each end of the room with a fireplace as the focal point.

Or, a conversation seating at one end and a cozy reading area at the other.

Here are some examples

I have a similar problem in the great hall, and solved it by using one inglenook as a sitting area, and the other for cooking hogs on the spit.

Tip - If you use one of yours for cooking hogs, make sure to put plenty of straw down on the nearby floor, as it can get messy.

@Kari11,
Many furniture stores have a software program that allows you to do room planning. It's a simple and cheap program. In fact most of the bigger stores have it. That is the best bet to visualize. I'd recommend you trying that.

Furthermore, when I did a query on Google for free Room Planner software, I got several hits. The first of which is from the magazine, Better Homes and Gardens. Here it is:

@bunnyroller,
You hired an architect to do what an interior decorator does? Why would you hire someone who gets paid a big salary and whose work is to design buildings?

Wow, so money is no object, huh?
