I do not recognize this. My quick research indicates that it might be from Dell. Is your computer a Dell?

Either way, this one's an unknown for me but what I'd do is disable it and quarantine it (e.g. copy it to a cd or disk and delete it, if it turns out to be needed put it back).

Thing is, I don't really think it's a baddie either.

Here's the culprit. Have hijackthis fix this and make sure this file is deleted.

More bad ones.

Investigate this one, I found only one reference outside of Able2Know about this.

Fix this.

All of these look legit, but you can speed up your computer by fixing them and not having them start up with your puter.

Fix this and get rid of the PuritySCAN program. It's a dangerous piece of junk.

I'd get rid of this.

Get rid of this.

Remember to fix all of this with no browser windows open and kill the tasks that you want to remove first.

Once you are done please reboot and see if it works (and please let us know so that we can better diagnose other puters).

You've been infected by the peper trojan amongst other things:

First, run this Peper trojan uninstaller, making sure you're online while running it!:
http://www.voiceofthepublic.com/nasties/puninst.exe

Please download and run the following :

1) SpyBot Search and Destroy
After installing SpyBot Search & Destroy, first press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.
Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', have SpyBot remove all the items it marks in red.

2) Ad-Aware
After installing Ad-Aware, and before running the program, first press "check for updates now".
Click "Connect" and install all updated components available. Click 'Finish'.
Press "Scan Now", then 'next', and let Ad-Aware scan your drives.
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again.
Check all found items, and click 'next' once more.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Always reboot the computer between each program - both of these may find things that they need to have a reboot of the machine to clear - please reboot and let them finish.

Reboot then post a fresh log.

EDIT: Sorry Craven I didn't see your reply. Embarrassed

Hi I tried what you recomended by I still have the problem. I built a temporary system for the user so I could spend more time with the system. I going to try the procedure one more time and if that doesn't work, i'm just going to format it. I'll let you know.

Thanks for your help

Hi

Going thru your procedure again didn't clear the problem, but the info helped me get to the answer. I searched for a manual removal of the peper trojan, which also gave instuctions on removing MemoryWatch, and I'm all set now..

Thanks you for all your help

I need help too.....
I have read many posts about the CoolWebSearch virus and the about:blank problems with adaware. Here is my problem. Everytime I use my computer now, when I am surfing around, after checking just a few links, my computer ends up getting hijacked and every link I click on redirects to some porn crap, usually teen something. I have a feeling I got something on my computer from a friend of mine who always sends me stuff via email (And yes I am guilty of viewing it because, well becasue I am a man).
But anyway, I have used the CWSShredder, I have cleared my .tmp files, I use adaware ALL the time, and still, I get hijacked over and over. It is frustrating becasue I am spending more time cleaning than I am using the net.
Anyway, here is a copy of my logfile from the Hijackthis scan I did. Please, if anyone can help, please tell me what I need to do here....
