Songs Of Our Fathers

Can't say there's a song which reminds me of my father. Then again, not so strange since I can't even recall what he looked like.

Curious what music will be brought forth by others.

This one sprang to mind, as.......well, he was a Fireman.

When I saw this thread, my mind instantly went to this song. Very, very sentimental. Hesitant to post it. But what the hell. It reminds me of my father. Saddled with a kid who asked a million questions. He always answered patiently.

My sister asked me to make a mix-tape to play in the background at my father's memorial. Looking through the list I realize what an influence my dad had in my passion for music and my decision to become a professional musician.
I know he was uneasy with my career path but he never dissuaded me and on the contrary he supported all the bands I joined and played in; even supplying art work for T-shirts and album covers.

As a child our house was filled with eclectic music from all over the world, especially folk music from other cultures; Alpine choirs and Argentine gaucho songs.

This is the first song I remember him singing to us.

I did not know my father, but I was told this was his favorite song.
