i'm a big fan of weddings, parties, anything

but i need to know, what does the title "ticket in tatts" mean, the lyric is
"i'm ten cents short of a dollar, but i feel like a man, with a ticket in tatts"

and in the song "the scorn of the women", what does the line about "a white feather he recieves in the mail", mean

thanks for any help

ticket in tatts is referring to a lottery game called tatts lotto.

I don't know the song with the white feather you're referring to, but my only frame of reference for recieving a white feather is a military one. It was sent to people as an accusation of cowardice.

The story of the band is a real rags to riches one. They were a group who played at functions denoted by their name "Weddings, parties, anything" for years. Then they recorded a song called "Fathers Day", and suddenly they were on the charts and won a music industry award. I remember seeing them collecting it and they were nothing short of gobsmacked.

thank you, i figured the tatts had to be a lottery and the feather as symbol of cowardice fits the song perfectly

i often buy music by intuition, and one day i found a cassette copy of "the big don't argue" and bought it

fell in love at first listen, managed to find cassettes of "roaring days" and "no show without punch" and later got cd's of "fathers day" and "they were better live"

Ah, I see! Very Happy

Don't you think Mother & son was just brilliant? We have had so many replays on the ABC I've lost count.
Do you see all the shows you mentioned on cable?

And have you seen Lantana? In my humble opinion just about the best oz film in years. Very, very good!

It's about 1:30 pm, Saturday 1st of May, in beautiful downtown Melbourne. A freezing, cold day. Did you ever hear the Crowded House song - 4 Seasons in One day? It was written about Melbourne. We have crazy weather! Rolling Eyes But great bands! Very Happy

Hunters & Collectors are now just a memory ... defunct!

Paul Kelly's music is wonderful ... Try Comedy, it's a really good CD.
