The tree of life was originally in the garden of Eden. According to the account, withholding the fruit from the tree of life was a part of gods punishment for Adam, the way to it was blocked by cherubs, so it had a strong significance. The reason was given as
Quote:Now in order that he may not put his hand out and take fruit also from the tree of life+ and eat and live forever
So a question arises, Could Adam have eaten from the tree of life and lived forever had he not disobeyed God?
Further, revelation 2 covers a part of john of Patmos vision where the offer of eating of this tree of life would be given to those who listened to the word of the angel of the congregation.
Quote:7 Let the one who has an ear hear what the spirit says to the congregations:+ To the one who conquers+ I will grant to eat of the tree of life,+ which is in the paradise of God
.
What does this mean for mankind?
For the purpose of this discussion, the validly of scripture is not the question, for that would be another thread.
