After observing locals spear fishing, an orangutan in Borneo was photographed using his own spear to catch passing fish.
Incredible! Did you know orangutan means "person of the forest"? Very appropriate indeed.
Tell Procter & Gamble to stop trashing orangutan's homes now: http://bit.ly/1izi7qb

Procter & Gamble, the maker of Head & Shoulders shampoo, is using palm oil linked to deforestation in Indonesia.

Tell Procter & Gamble, that it's time to take responsibility and cut deforestation out of its supply chain! http://bit.ly/1lep9nb

Comment:
You know I talk a lot about regulations but where are our elected officials when these vital rain forests are being destroyed for U.S. profit? Where are the self regulating corporations the republicans tout?

It seems the only one concerned about this vital habitat for many thousands of animal species are average people. And the republicans and their corporate masters have the gall to refer to themselves as "pro life"?

This should be an example of how weak our government officials are at legislating regulation with corporate money used to bribe them and look the other way, and how careless corporations are without government regulations.

Nothing quite like destroying an entire ecosystem due to embarrassing dandruff flakes...

The Mayan communities stated that the planting of GM Soybeans affected the traditional historical practices of the people (beekeeping) and that there was a violation of their right to a healthy environment through the overuse of herbicides and deforestation that GMOs encourage. BREAKING: the International Court of Justice has just ruled that Japan must immediately end its so-called ‘scientific’ whaling program: http://bit.ly/1hrFAZY

This is a big step forward in our efforts to ban this senseless practice.

Fantastic news! After over 100 years of whaling, whales finally have a sanctuary from whaling in the waters around Antarctica.

Today, Japan announced that it canceled its whale hunt in the Southern Ocean as a result of a recent International Court of Justice decision declaring it illegal.

The tiny cotton-top tamarin numbers less than 6,000 individuals, and has already suffered the loss of 80% of its habitat -- 30% in just the last decade. It lives only in northwest Colombia, in a rainforest that also supports hundreds of bird species and many other mammals, including the elusive jaguar and the spectacled bear. They need our help!
