According to Brian Eno you were the only person who purchased one of the original 30,000 copies without starting a band. I think only the Sex Pistols are name checked for band starting inspiration as VU.

A beginner's guide to Lou Reed (my fave made the top 10 - I don't feel so alone now)

My favourite velvet underground track is the live version of What Goes On, there's just something about the sound.
