There WAS too much mint on the sorbet, a tree really, but I knew that. The mint was strictly for visual impact. I didn't actually serve it with the tree, just a touch of mint chiffonade. Smile You have a keen eye willow_ti. It's amazing how often you see food served with completely extraneous garnish.

PDiddie, yes...perhaps a picture of me torturing an apprentice with a big knife for ruining something...I'll give that some thought.

Would you consider holding a plate of peanut butter balls? I have the recipe if you're so inclined.

Now, that wouldn't simply be chunky peanut butter rolled into balls would it, gustav?

Cav, I agree, take a new picture. As I said in the gallery, it makes me feel like you need taking care of.

husker, a 3-course sit down goes for about $60 CDN.

littlek, I can only imagine how much a simple smile would have brightened up that photo. We shall try again. Actually, there have been some great thoughts offered up here already, which will help me focus my presentation and marketing for the site. Keep 'em coming.

Need art direction? Just say so...

Try a glass of wine next to the plate, cav. And perhaps a good cloth napkin (in a subtle color, so as not to compete with the food) folded loosely and tucked under the edge of the plate. The white plate and solid black background looks very artsy, but too stark. A little more warmth would help. You want to stimulate the appetite, right?

Thanks!

I know a standard plate-only shot is typical for foodie magazines, etc., but that is not your audience for the website, right? The site needs to appeal to upscale people who will hire you for catering, right? So, they will be looking at the website for food images, certainly, but at the same time trying to imagine how that food will fit into their setting(s). Does that give you any good ideas?

Cav, I think smiling would have made the "photo"--
I think you are handsome, by the way. You have beautiful hair.

Aww shucks ladies, look, I'm blushing...Embarrassed

Eva, I am rethinking the next photo shoot. If I can find a client who will give their consent to have a photographer with me, I would love to photo an in-home dinner from start to finish, with candids of prep and plating, and maybe a portrait photo or two, and a couple of plate shots. I'll keep you posted.

VERY good idea, Cav!

Also for the website...how about a few quotations of endorsement by clients? That would help sell me.

Just uploaded a bunch of new food photos yesterday, live from a 6-course dinner, that look really neat. Crossing my fingers they get posted in the gallery soon!

Okie dokie...despite a weird computer glitch on my side, it seems that most of the photos are in the gallery now, including some prep shots. Enjoy!
