My buddy (who's 15)'s mother is placing nanny cam on his notebook, for dumb reasons I will not get in to. Are there ways-to get around it?
@RichardHughes,
a slice of duct tape over the lens
@RichardHughes,
Most laptop bios allowed webcams to be disable.
@RichardHughes,
Take a high resolution photograph of the area where the camera is aiming at (with no one sitting there). Then attach the photo print out so that it dangles out in front of the camera where the camera can only see the photo scene of an empty room (not the photo's edges). Use the laptop in the know that anybody peeking in on the webcam might be duped into believing that the room is empty while someone is actually using the computer for whatever illicit purposes they most enjoy.

@tsarstepan,
My my what trouble you are trying to tell him to take as booting from a linux free os cd would bypass any software placed on the computer hard drive and have the benefits of him learning a powerful os beside.
Or you could just resort the computer to a date where the computer did not have the spyware and when done you can undo the resort and on and on.
