Motorola TK30 Bluetooth kit

I have bought and installed a Motorola TK30 bluetooth kit in my car. It says it is iphone compatable however it does not seem to work with my iphone 5. I bought the connector to comvert the 30 pin to lightening connector and all this seems to do it charge the phone amd not recognise the ipod funtionallity. Any advise?
