@RexRed,
Actually I made an error, I believe the church above I posted is in or near Blue Hill Maine.

Here is the Sawyer Memorial Congregational Church Jonesport ME that I attended as a child.

You can see why I confused the two churches Smile

I wish I had a photo of the inside, the stained glass windows are really beautiful.

@RexRed,
Hope this is what you are looking for. I like the middle one best

The white churches with spires very often look alike. i do like them. They fit into the landscape as countrychurches. In cities I prefer stone.

@saab,
WOW I looked for an interior photo of the church and could not find one! There is a beautiful stained glass sun up above the altar and organ pipes too!!!

Thanks Saab, I haven't been in the church for many years... Smile

That is going to make a beautiful desktop wallpaper!

Near the stained glass that you posted is a plaque with women's names who used to sing hymns trying to lure the men out of the taverns I think before prohibition. I don't know much more about that.

A beautiful Mosque in Hamburg and this is Yenidize in Dresden.
I was in Dresden and saw the Frauenkirche, the Catholic Church and the Synagog. From a distance I had seen the cupola of the mosque so I decided to look at that too. Then I had been visiting three religions in one day.
So off I go - it is not at all a mosque but an old tobaco factory and now it is an office complex with a restaurant in the cupola.

@saab,
Castle Dankwarderode - Brunswick - Germany

     http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/a5/Braunschweig-burgplatz_2.jpg/800px-Braunschweig-burgplatz_2.jpg

Quote:
Dankwarderode Castle was built between c. 1160 and 1175 as the Pfalz of Duke Henry the Lion on an island in the river Oker. Next to the castle, construction of Brunswick Cathedral began in 1173. The castle lost its military significance as a defensive structure early, when it became surrounded completely by the growing city.

During the 15th century, the dukes of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel moved their Residenz out of the city and to the nearby town of Wolfenbüttel.[1] In 1616 the castle keep was reconstructed in the renaissance style, while the rest of the castle was demolished or left to decay. During the 19th century, the castle keep served as a barrack, plans to demolish it completely were stopped by public protests in 1873. The present structure was rebuilt in 1887 by Ludwig Winter, based on archeological investigations. Today the ground floor of Dankwarderode Castle houses the permanent collection of Medieval objects of the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum

Castle Biljoen - a " water-castle " in Holland - lies between the Veluwe and the IJssel near Velp. This Noble House from the 16th century was rebuilt by Alexander van Spaen (1619–1692) into the present day castle with four equal corner towers.
